THE SUN IS
OUR FATHER
The Sami are Europe’s only indigenous people, who long before the four defined Ice Ages have inhabited the areas of northern Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. These area’s are now called the Lapps.
The Sami believed that the Gods were alive through nature and that the mountains or lakes could help people. The sun that was central carried these Gods, as a primeval cosmic that govern their fate – as their father. The collection represents the children of the sun, coming to earth to remind us to trust in cyclical time so that we can let go our fear of loss. Memories will then come back to us naturally - like the never setting nor rising sun, he is always new.
